Getting Started

1

Download & Install

Download the latest release from GitHub. Run the installer or extract the zip and launch SyncView.exe. The setup wizard will register the native messaging host for all browsers automatically.

2

Install the Browser Extension

Choose your browser and install the extension:

  1. Open Firefox and go to about:addons
  2. Click the gear icon and select "Install Add-on From File..."
  3. Select the sync-view.xpi file from the install directory

Unsigned extensions require Firefox Developer Edition, Nightly, or ESR with xpinstall.signatures.required set to false.

  1. Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions/
  2. Enable Developer mode (toggle in top-right)
  3. Click "Load unpacked" and select the chrome/ folder
  4. Copy your extension ID (shown under the extension name)
  5. Open SyncView.exe → Settings → paste the ID into "Chrome / Edge Extension IDs"
  6. Click "Save IDs"

Chrome requires the extension ID to be registered with the native messaging host. Without this step, you'll see "host not found" errors.

  1. Open Edge and go to edge://extensions/
  2. Enable Developer mode (toggle in bottom-left)
  3. Click "Load unpacked" and select the edge/ folder
  4. Copy your extension ID from the extension card
  5. Open SyncView.exe → Settings → paste the ID into "Chrome / Edge Extension IDs"
  6. Click "Save IDs"

You can enter multiple extension IDs (comma-separated) if you use both Chrome and Edge.

3

Open Discord & Play Something

Make sure Discord is running, then open any supported streaming site. Your Discord profile will automatically show what you're watching or listening to.
